Eight great reasons to tell the truth

Eight great reasons to tell the truth
Barbara A. Lewis
Image result for truth
  1. Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There’s less chance of misunderstanding, confusion, or conflict.
  2. Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed  or punished.
  3. Telling the truth allows everyone to learn from what happened.
  4. You usually get in less trouble for telling the truth other than for lying (and getting caught).
  5. Other people trust you more when you tell the truth.
  6. You don’t have to tell (and remember) more lies to keep your story straight.
  7. You gain a reputation for being truthful- a trait most people value.
  8. Telling the truth helps you to feel secure and peaceful. Inside.

I agree with Ms. Lewis with some of these reasons, like reason 3 is just plain dumb. But i do like reason 5 because i do think that people do trust you more when you tell the truth. I also think you should always tell the truth even if you know it can hurt the other person. Reason number 6 is kinda true as well because once you lie you more than likely going to keep having to lie. Number 7 is also true because people can start notice that you lie to much. Then they’ll never want to hang out with you or even talk to you. Maybe because they think you’re just going to backstab them or you’re going to do something behind their backs. Number 8 i think is just mental and internal, if you think you’re trustworthy than you wouldn’t think like that even if you really aren’t trustworthy.

the best thing you can do is the right thing

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.”
Theodore Roosevelt

Reflection: I agree with the former president Roosevelt, the best thing you can do is the right thing. One reason is because why would you want to do something the wrong way, if you can do it the right way the first time. Even if you know that the wrong way is easier than the right way. Eventually the right way will help you in the near future. One example can be cheating, if you decide to cheat on a test instead of doing it the right way. In the future when your teacher wants to do a review on the same thing, you won’t know what it’s about and you’ll end up failing that review. Another good example can be, something like if your friends decide to go to a movie on thursday night but you know you have a test tomorrow. The best and most productive thing you can do is stay home and study for that test. That is what this quote is trying to say, to always go with what you know is right when

step up and do the right thing at the right time

“It’s a great moment when someone has character to step up and do the right thing at the right time.” -Pam Knox

This quote is trying to show us that the best thing you can do is the right thing. Also that by making the right choice you not only make yourself proud but also others. People always remember when someone did what was right when it was needed the most. Coaches always appreciate it when people do what is right. For example if your coach tells you to run 1 hour before practice and the rest of the team decides to not run. But you still run without them, you’re the one that’s going to be more fit than everyone else and the coach will be able to tell during the games. By running your also showing the rest of the team who to follow. Just by doing what is right you’ll always get recognized by someone. It feels good when you do the right thing.

Act well your part; there all honor lies

"Act well your part; there all honor lies."
Alexander Pope

Alexander Pope is trying indicate that the only way to honor yourself, is to act well. So if you don't act well then you don't honor yourself. I disagree with this quote by Alexander Pope because people who act well are usually just scared of what people might think. I do agree that by acting well you do honor yourself but thats not the only thing that honor lies on. I just totally disagree on the fact that Alexander Pope thinks that all honor lies in acting well. By acting well its like you've been condition to not do what you feels. Like a slave and thats by I disagree with Alexander's quote.

COURAGE

Student Success Statement

"We need the COURAGE to START and CONTINUE what we should do, and the COURAGE to Stop what we shouldn't do."
-Richard L. Evans

I agree with what Richard L. Evans is saying because you have to be courage to start doing stuff but also to continue doing them. Others usually start something but don't end it. It takes COURAGE and hunger to continue doing the right thing. Let's say for example you have a game in 3 days but you haven't practice at all. You have to choice to either START and CONTINUE practicing for the game for all the other games to come. But it takes COURAGE to do that. Just like it takes COURAGE to stop doing something you know your not suppose to be doing. Like for example hanging out with you friends instead of practicing because your ashamed what your friends might say.

If we do what's right, we have no need to fear

Student Success Statement
"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear."
-Evan Stephens

If you always do what is right than you have nothing to fear at all. If your doing something wrong then you feel guilty and scared. That you will get caught doing something wrong. A good example about not fearing when your doing something good, would be like if you have a essay due tomorrow. But you finished it so you can just relax and not worry. But there might be a kid who hasn't done the essay and is all scared and worried. If he would have just did it earlier he wouldn't have to worry if you will finish it in time or not. In the other hand the kid who did finish it in time, has no need to be worried or scared. That is the way I look at this statement. I agree with Evan Stephens, his statement is completely true.

The 3 Questions

Student Success Statement
The 3 Questions:

1. Can people trust me to do what's right?
2. Am I committed to doing my very best?
3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?

"If the answer to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail." -Lou Holtz

Lou Holtz means that if you are trustworthy you can do no wrong. You can never go wrong with being committed to doing your best. If your committed to always doing your best then you will always become successful. Another great aspect to have if you don't want to fail is treat people the way you want to be treated. This aspect can help you gain respect and new friends. You can do no wrong by treat people the same way your treating them. The only way to winning every day is to have all three of those aspects. You can never fail if your treating people the way you want to be treated because that makes people want to be around you. If your trustworthy than you will have a lot of open doors. I say yes to all the three.

kindness is the essence of greatness

Student Success Statement
"kindness is the essence of greatness."
Joseph B. Wirthlin
I think what Joseph says is true because if your not kind them your can't be greatness. For example Diana isn't kind because she always saying that I suck. But in the other hand Alexa is nice(Kinda). Joseph is also true because kindness worth more than anything else. Without kindness the rest of your qualities are just a blur.

3 magic keys to living your life with integrity

Student Success Statement
1. Have the courage to say no.
2. Have the courage to face the truth.
3. Do the right thing because it is right.
W. Clement Stone

Reflection: W. Clement Stone is trying to teach us that the top three ways too have integrity, is to be brave to say no. Even if your scared what people might think about you for saying no. Not even one is going to agree with you decisions, but if its the right thing to do, you shouldn't what others might think. He also says to have courage to face the truth, which in my understanding he means that you should never be scared to own up to something you did good or bad. You should never lie about something that is false. Facing the truth means to own up to your false acts but also to never lie about something even if its just a fib. Clement Stone also indicates that to do the right thing because it is right, what Clements Stone means is to also do the right thing, even in tough situations. Doing the right thing because you know it is right is the best way to have integrity because it shows that your better than the people who are ctw. Doing the right thing is about doing the right when everyone else is choosing the wrong.

Obedience is central to happiness

"Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy."
David Bednar

Reflection: I think what David is trying to say is that the only way to be happy in life to choose the right. By being obedient you wouldn't feel guilty or you wouldn't have regrets in life. One example of being obedient is by always choosing the right and following the rules. Never being disobedient or never ctw.
