Memorial Day

Memorial Day

  1. Memorial day is the day that we in the United States celebrate to honor all of those who died fight in the military.
  2. Memorial day use to be celebrated on May 30th but now it is celebrated on the last Monday of May.
  3. One way to show our honor on Memorial Day is by writing a thank you letter overseas to some of the soldiers. Another way is by visiting a local veterans cemetery and showing your honor. Visit and help out in a local veteran’s hospital.
5.Some interestings about memorial day is that memorial day became a federal holiday in 1971. Nearly 620,000 soldiers died during the civil war.

6. Something i might do in memorial day is go to my uncles cemetery because he was a solider who died fighting in vietnam. So we always go visited him on memorial day, we’ve been doing it for 4 year straight.

7. I think memorial day is a great day because it’s a day that we show our support for those families who lost a loved one in war. The only thing is that i think we should have an actual day to honor the soldiers that are fighting for us today instead of just having holidays for soldiers who died already. I also like it because we get to visit my uncle every year.

word of honor

“I have been asked what I mean by ‘word of honor.’ I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls-walls of stone ever so high, ever so think, reaching ever so far into the ground- there is a possibility that in some way or another I might be able to escape; but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get Out of that circle? No, never! I’d die first.”  -Karl G. Maesar

Reflection: In my opinion this quote is trying to indicate that your word is stronger that your must. Only because you’re forced to do something does mean you have to do it. If you give your word and say you’re going to do something then you better make sure you do that. Karl G. Maesar shows that he was a responsible human being and if he gave you his word then he meant it. The quote also shows that if you want people to count on you then you have to show them you can be counted for. He even goes to say that stone walls can’t even hold him entitle. The only thing that can hold him entitle is his word because to him his word is everything. The way people think and feel about him is worth more than anything. He’d rather die before not being able to keep his word. That’s much he honests and respects his word and himself.
